Raising Unicorns With A Partner

Please be aware there is a fault in the game whereby it costs you one crown to place a unicorn, Zynga are aware of this and will replace the coins if you contact them. (21st August 2012 this was marked as fixed by Zynga but I shall leave it in just in case.)

Once you have placed the Beacon of Arcadia click on it to enter the Unicorn Trainer.  Click to start a new unicorn and select the type of unicorn you wish to grow. There are three types to choose from and each type can result in one of a further three types of unicorn as your final unicorn.

You will then be prompted to ask your friends to partner you in raising your unicorn. Once a friend accepts your request, they will receive a young unicorn of the same type you chose.  Once placed, you will see a linked tool tip above your unicorn in your kingdom and your partner will see one above their unicorn in their kingdom to show they are bound together.  These two unicorns are now linked. As soon as one of you places the unicorn the timer will begin, so just because you may not have placed it and it is saying start in your Unicorn Trainer your partner may have placed it and the timer will be running.

If you do not feed your unicorn 5 times before its birthday it will run away, it is believed but not confirmed that both you and your partner must have fed your unicorn's at least one of the 5 times to prevent this.

When you feed your unicorn it will cause both your unicorn and your partner’s unicorn to grow and when your friend feeds their unicorn it will cause both their unicorn and your unicorn to grow.  If your partner has fed their unicorn before you logged into or refreshed your game then your friend will appear within your game with a tool tip above them advising you of this, when you accept their feeding you will see your partner feeding their unicorn and then they and their unicorn will both disappear. Both unicorns will then be the same fed size.

The more you feed your unicorn the more powerful it becomes and the greater the rewards when it finishes growing - on it's birthday 7 days after you started it.

You can have 10 unicorns that you started active at one time and be helping out with 15 at one time. The maximum number of unicorns you can have in total is 70.

Pick your unicorn partners carefully – it takes 40 feeds to grow epic unicorn’s between you.

Your unicorn is affected by feeding in a variety of ways, firstly in the size it will be when the timer runs out on its Birthday and it becomes its final unicorn:-

Secondly in the Castle/Nobility Points it is worth:-

Castle/Nobility Points:-

5 feeds = 5 Castle/Nobility Points
10 - 19 feeds = 10 Castle/Nobility Points
20 + feeds = 20 Castle/Nobility Points

Once you and your partner reach 39 feeds in total stop feeding your unicorns so that you can both choose which type of unicorn you will get. 

This next tip will work if you are working together or if you are having to do your unicorns without partner help - just raise it to 39 and then follow the steps to get the unicorn you want - if your partner isn't helping why should you care which one they get for free.

THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES WHERE SOME PEOPLE GET THE FOLLOWING TIP TO WORK AND OTHERS DO NOT, CINDY PEEL HAS GOTTEN THIS TO WORK TWICE SHE SAID THIS:-

"It has worked 2 times for me, but I noticed if u do not feed it right away the pic changes back to the original, make sure u feed it fast enough!"

To work together to both raise the unicorn you want (you can both choose a different unicorn, you do not have to both choose the same one) you and your partner should have fed your unicorns a total of 39 times between you, you should be online together in your chat box so you can tell each other when you are ready, then you both click on the unicorn to feed it for the 40th time, a pop up will appear, on the right hand side of the pop up is a picture of the type of unicorn you will receive, if it is not the type of unicorn that you want click the x in the top right hand corner of the pop up and then click the unicorn again, repeat this until you BOTH have the unicorn in the pop-up that you want to get.  Then either you or your partner makes the 40th feed - the person who makes the feed will get the unicorn they want and then - without the game refreshing - they and their unicorn will appear in you Kingdom you will need to close the pop up and you HAVE to accept the feed -  if you are the receiver of the 40th feed you cannot change the unicorn that you will receive after this point, if you had the unicorn you wanted in the box when you friend made the feed you will get that unicorn.

When the unicorns have been fed 40 times you can choose to stop feeding them or carry on (the rewards are not that spectacular for carrying on) and the unicorns will then be fully grown on their birthday - 7 days from when you and your partner started them you will be notified and will be able to release the unicorns accumulated inspiration.  This is when you will receive the treasure chest and your final unicorn (which will be worth Castle Points) and some extra rewards (depending on how much you fed them).

The third task of the final episode of Alastair's Inspiring Unicorns Quest 7/7 Measuring Up states that you must have 5 Unicorns unleash their inspiration - this means that you must grow 5 Unicorns to Epic level to complete the quest (current advice recommends feeding each one 41 times to be sure). 

The fourth task of the final episode of Alastair's Inspiring Unicorns Quest 7/7 Measuring Up states that you must feed a fully inspired unicorn 5 times, because the third task above requires 5 unicorns to release their inspiration then tending each one once after its inspiration has been released will count towards meeting the required criteria.
